Agriculture

Finca de Uga

Every crop, every tree and every fruit forms part of a balance that we care for with patience and consistency. Our agricultural work is based on sustainability, traditional farming and respect for the natural cycles of Lanzarote.

Sustainable farming
Caring for nature’s rhythm
Caring for nature’s rhythm

Our estate covers 30 hectares of usable land, 19 of which are dedicated to agriculture and 11 to livestock. Here we grow fruits, vegetables and greens that supply the kitchens of our restaurants and hotels every day, always with fresh, local and seasonal produce.

We use a localized irrigation system designed to optimise water use on an island where every drop counts. Irrigation is carried out during daylight hours, taking advantage of the energy produced by our solar panels, which makes efficient and sustainable management possible. This allows us to preserve the natural fertility of the volcanic soil without forcing it, respecting its cycles and keeping the use of chemical products to a minimum.

The richness born from the rock

The richness born from the rock

Lanzarote’s volcanic soil is a natural treasure. Rich in minerals and capable of retaining moisture, it allows us to grow species that would struggle to thrive elsewhere. Thanks to this unique environment, exotic fruits also flourish at Finca de Uga, such as Buddha’s hand, cherimoya, finger lime, zapote blanco, lima quat, lilli pilli and raspberries. Each one adds new shades of flavour and colour, reflecting this land’s ability to welcome diversity and make it its own.

Fruits that taste like sunshine

Our fruit trees—avocado, papaya, orange, mulberry and mango—grow under a unique climate where the warmth of the sun and the mineral character of volcanic rock create flavours that cannot be replicated.

The seasons mark the natural rhythm: spring brings courgettes, green beans, tomatoes, lettuce, coriander, parsley and strawberries; summer offers melons, watermelons, blackberries, guavas, figs, pitahayas and passion fruit; autumn brings mangoes, papayas, avocados and citrus; and winter gifts us oranges and tender vegetables.

One of our most notable crops is our Syrah grape, which ripens in small vineyards on the estate and is destined for the production of Finca de Uga red wine, crafted at Bodega Stratvs. A collaboration that brings together the work of the land and the art of winemaking, reflecting the harmony between agriculture and oenology in the heart of Lanzarote.

Nature protects itself
An increasingly ecological estate

We are moving towards an increasingly ecological model, reducing the use of phytosanitary products through the controlled introduction of beneficial insects that act as natural protectors of our crops. Among them:

  • Chrysopa, effective against aphids, scale insects and thrips, especially in vegetables, mangoes, cherimoyas and avocados.

  • Cryptolaemus montrouzieri, specialised in controlling citrus mealybugs.

  • Phytoseiulus persimilis, which combats red spider mites in various crops.

These releases are carried out in a planned way, with the right technical guidance, achieving a natural balance that protects biodiversity and contributes to a healthier environment for everyone.

Respect, learning and innovation

The future grows from the land

The future grows from the land

At Finca de Uga, every day is a lesson. We observe the land, listen to its rhythm and learn from it. Our commitment is not only to produce, but to preserve Lanzarote’s agricultural landscape, keep its roots alive and ensure it continues to thrive for future generations.

Innovation is part of that same respect: we use smart irrigation systems, solar energy and sustainable solutions that make our work more efficient without losing its artisanal essence. In this way, tradition and modernity coexist in balance, proving that progress can be born from the land… and grow with it.
