Livestock

Finca de Uga

At Finca de Uga, the animals live in direct contact with the countryside, with no cages and no rush. They enjoy wide open spaces, shade, gardens and music that accompanies their days, creating a peaceful and harmonious environment. We believe that animal welfare is not a detail, but the foundation of our philosophy.

The purity of our milk is the result of calm, dedication and balance with the land. Only in this way do we obtain a living raw material capable of becoming cheeses that express the essence of our farm.

Canarian character and authenticity
The Majorera Goat

Native to the Canary Islands, the Majorera goat is one of the true treasures of local livestock farming. Its rich, well-balanced milk gives rise to some of our most renowned cheeses. At Finca de Uga, we raise more than 400 Majorera goats, fed with selected forage that ensures milk with its own character and a distinctive Atlantic flavour.

Softness and natural balance
The Canary Sheep

With more than 400 Canary Sheep, Finca de Uga preserves a unique breed of the islands. Their milk provides sweetness and softness, and when combined with goat or cow’s milk, it gives rise to balanced and delicate cheeses. The sheep are shorn twice a year and live in a peaceful environment, where calm is just as important as their diet.

Richness and creaminess
The Jersey Cow

The Jersey cow, originally from the British Isles, produces exceptionally creamy milk with a high fat and protein content. At Finca de Uga, we raise around 40 Jersey cows, whose milk is used to produce cheeses with a silky texture and deep flavour. Daily care, controlled feeding and strict hygiene ensure a raw material of the highest quality, recognised and awarded both nationally and internationally.

Our pigs
Canary Black Pig
Canary Black Pig

The Canary Black Pig is part of the farm’s livestock heritage. From it comes the “Cochino Finca de Uga”, the result of crossing it with the Iberian sow — a combination that brings together the marbling of Iberian pork with the intense flavour of the Canarian breed. The sows live in large gardened areas with shade and pools, and farrowings take place in adapted maternity rooms, with warm spaces for the piglets. Every detail is designed for their welfare, resulting in juicy, balanced meat that reflects the identity of Lanzarote.

Quiet strength of the countryside

The Ox

The Ox

The ox represents the serenity and strength that inspire our work. Raised freely and fed naturally, it maintains the connection with the island’s agricultural tradition and reminds us that the land is best understood without haste, following its natural cycles. More than just a production animal, it is part of a way of working that we still honor, based on daily care, patience, and a balanced relationship with the earth.
